| Sybil Shelton-Ford, CYT, RYT is the owner and director of As You Are Yoga. She has practiced various forms of yoga since 1997 and is certified through The Temple of Kriya Yoga with additional studies in Yoga for the Special Child (TM), Integrated Movement Therapy(TM), and the Radiant Child Yoga Program(TM). She has also earned certification as a Tai Chi for Arthritis instructor under the supervision of Sifu Dan Jones. Sybil created the As You Are Yoga Hatha and Vinyasa Teacher's Training Program in July of 2006, which later became accredited with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS). Sybil is proudly registered with Yoga Alliance of which she has earned status as E-RYT - experienced yoga teacher. She offers a variety of adult yoga classes, preschool yoga programs and yoga therapy-based sessions for children with special needs. Sybil currently studies with Integrative Yoga Therapy(TM) in the advanced Professional Yoga Therapist program and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Sybil earned her B.A. in Elementary Education, with emphasis in Child Development, from Michigan State University (Go Spartans!). She lives with her three children, her great husband and her spoiled-rotten dog - all who have given great support since she open the doors to As You Are Yoga on November 1. 2005. Tara Scott, CYT, RYT Tara Scott is the Assistant Director of As You Are Yoga and the first teacher to be certified through its RYS 200 (Registered Yoga School) teachers' training program. In this role, she hopes to mentor youth and nurture community wellness through the healing tradition of yoga. Tara earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Cinema studies from New York University, which led to professional stints in advertising, magazine publishing, and independent film production. Tara considers her yoga training to be an extension of her long-term inquiry into human relations and communications. She is a certified Reiki Level 1 practitioner (Reiki Arts Continuum, NYC) and has additional experience as a student/practitioner of Pilates and Network Spinal Analysis. Nationally registered with Yoga Alliance as a registered yoga teacher, Tara is a member of the Lansing Area Mindfulness Community and the Green Yoga Association. She has been a member of the Habibi dancers (Lansing's local Middle Eastern Dance Troupe) for just over a year. She loves performing in local restaurants and at Ren Faire. Molly is excited to teach the dance she love so much and hopes that you will give it a try; you never know what your body can do until you try!! Molly is also a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist specializing in pregnancy massage and deep tissue relaxation. She is also a nanny for her beautiful 2 1/2 year old nephew, Ambrose. Since starting her teacher training at Namaste Yoga last year, Andrea has also deepened her understanding of yoga and of life. One of the greatest gifts of yoga is that whatever you apply yourself to on the mat is applicable to the outside world as well - your practice off the mat. She looks forward to expanding her yoga experiences and enjoys learning from students as much as she enjoys teaching them. As a graphic-designing zoologist, Andrea is also available to answer any of your creature questions! She will be an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) in August! Ben Wilson Ben is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in finance. He studied yoga under Jonny Kest in metro Detroit, at the Center For Yoga. He has a compassionate and gentle style that allows students to find their inner teacher through their practice. Ben teaches Hot Yoga and Power Vinyasa, and will become an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) within the coming months. |
