Sybil Shelton-Ford, MA, RYT, is the founder and creator of As You Are Yoga. Sybil holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Siena Heights University. Prior to teaching yoga, she worked both as a teacher, at the preschool and first grade levels, and as a child care director. She began to practice yoga soon after the birth of her third child in 1997. Her earliest trainings were with YogaFit in 1999. She continued her studies and received a 200-hour yoga certification from the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago in 2003 and a 500-hour yoga therapy training with Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT) in 2006. In addition to classical yoga training, she has also studied under Sonia Sumar, creator of Yoga for the Special Child, Molly Kenny, founder of Integrated Movement Therapy (IMT), and Beth Gibb and Mira Binzen in the Integrative Yoga Therapy for Children program. She has been teaching yoga to children and adults in the Lansing, Mi area since 2001 and developed the As You Are Yoga 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program in 2008. As You Are Yoga is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS) and is licensed by the State of Michigan as a proprietary school.
Tara Scott, MA, RYT, is the founder and creator of Dharma Yoga Arts. She is certified through As You Are Yoga to teach Hatha Yoga with specialization in teen/ adolescent yoga. She offers a variety of adult and youth classes throughout the Lansing, Mi area. In addition to her yoga training, Tara is a Level 1 Reiki practioner and has studied the Pilates Method and Network Spinal Analysis.
